Weekly Wise

Reading: This week we be be continuing our new novel study Holes. Please remember that in place of reading logs for the remainder of the year the students will need to get at least two combos this week in Reading Plus. Also in place of wordly wise we will be using our Flocabulary academic vocabulary online assignments.  

Language: In language this week we will be working on our reading and responding (writing) to various writing prompts as well as free writing in our journals

Spelling: For spelling this week we will be using our Flocabulary vocabulary words, please note that these online activities have also took place of our paper based weekly Wordly Wise assignments. Students are given amble time in class to use their Chromebooks to complete the assignments. 

Math: This week in math we will be reviewing skills we have learned throughout the school year as well as beginning to learn some advanced academic skills. Also, please note that with us working in small math groups, we will be discussing various topics based upon your child's needs. In addition we are also working with two online programs called Ten Marks and Prodigy. If your child has misplaced their login information please just let me know. 

Science: In Science this week we will continue our studies on Chapter 8. This week we will be finishing the first lesson which includes the following topics: electrical charges, chargers interacting, static electricity, electrical discharge, lightning, conductors and insulators and beginning the second lesson which includes: electrical currents, open and closed circuits, series circuit, parallel circuit, voltage, resistance, and sort circuits.

Social Studies: Social Studies this week will consist of us continuing  Chapter 7 Lesson 2: The Constitutional Convention. Topics we will be discussing will include: Bill of Rights, Delegates Gathering in Philadelphia, The Virginia Plan, Checks and Balances, The New Jersey Plan, The Great Compromise, Preamble to the United States Constitution, The Constitution of the United States, Ratifying the Constitution. We will also be using the Studies Weekly newspapers to supplement our learning. Remember that the students will have a full week to read and work on the activities that are included and the students will take an quiz on the information at the end of the week.
